3-27-10 - Clean Slate

First of all:
The Black Party Weekend was a blast.  I had a real good time last Saturday Night with the guys night out.  Even though I wasn’t really blown away by any performances, I was moved by the music and enjoyed myself immensely.  The only maddening part was leaving and realizing that 42nd street was closed because of the half-marathon.  I finally had to illegally cross the street so I could take a taxi home heading downtown.

Sunday Night was just as good even though I did not stay as long as I had hoped to. Both days I was able to come home and sleep without having to take an ambien and no hurt feet despite the extreme footwear.  My friends enjoyed the pictures and I enjoyed taking them.  I really should get a better camera since the one I have is really just for point and shoot and is waterproof.  Maybe soon.

Personally, I am starting from scratch. On so many levels and in so many parts of my life I am in the midst of a grand reinvention.  I was in need of a rejuvenation of some sort and was so down on myself for so long it seems I am just now turning the corner.   I feel better about myself and know that the writers block I was feeling for the past few weeks seems to be lifting.  Being in a bad mood does not do much for the imagination.  I’ve been very good at giving out the advice so now I will take my own advice and act.  I really don’t have much of a choice in the matter.  I will move forward because living in the past makes no sense and is just wallowing in self-serving emotion.  I'd rather turn that emotion to something more useful and use the energy where it will do the most good.  And I will have fun while doing so.  No sense in just being a bookworm.  We need the people energy to see where to focus our attention next.

And a good time will be had by all.
But especially me.

1-30-10 - The city life.. It takes some people from the village..

The party life continues (of course). My invite from Lisa Bonelli reminded me that there were good times happening downtown. DJ Victor Calderone was spinning at Cielo and I decided I would try something different than my usual fare. I hadn’t been down there in a hot minute and of course the weather was once again freezing. Why do all of these dance spaces in the meatpacking district have to be in a straight line from the river side? Those icey winds made my toes cold. After waiting on the line for a few minutes I made my way inside. They patted me down, I waited through the coatcheck and I was in there like belvedere. Well I decided on Corona because I had already started my night at Gym Bar where I had already partook of a few Stoli O and Monster glasses and I was already doing pretty good. The crowd was very energetic, very mixed and I was dancing from the very start.

I guess the workouts during the week have served me well. Even dancing with beer in hand I still had plenty of space, no drunk pushing and only one random drunk girl who I almost knocked over in the VIP section. (She was sitting on the couch facing away from the dancefloor and I didn’t see her when I stepped backwards). She said it was ok and we parted with smiles. No attitudes just plenty of fun. Anyway I was able to meet a new friend (Andrea) and hung out with and took pics with DJ Sean. The poor coatcheck girl was working arrivals and departures all by herself so I decided to leave before the great coatcheck rush and get my coat before closing to head on home in the briskness. After I finally flagged down a taxi he asked me why the taxi in front of him had decided to pass me by. I told him that people with my skin color have to work a little harder to get a taxi in NYC. He actually did not believe me (truly naive driver) at first. I told him even with name brand coat and kicks I still have to wait on the good graces of the driver before I can get a ride home. Even when its believe freezing outside. This is why we dress for the weather and don’t let it get to us. Is their problem not mine. I know where I’m going and I tip the fare well. I will get to my destination eventually, no worries.

Thanks for the party start to

1-23-10 - Really though.. Yes Really

This week I’ve been upfront, cruel, fun-loving, good and tired. Not all at the same time of course.

The party on Sunday at M2 was surprisingly good. From the opening DJ Pagano to the headliner DJs Chus & Ceballos. I was dancing the entire time. I actually had not planned on going but since everyone was off work on Monday I decided to surprise my friends and show up to say hi. I said an awful lot of hellos, posed for a lot of pictures and I was dancing until 8:30am and then only left because I wanted to spare my feet any hard feelings. They had me hooked from "Fight Again" by Deux as well as "Sundays at Heaven" by Velarde, Luque, and Vitti feat Giovanni. As well as a lot of current good dark beats.

During the week I had to be cruel (kinda, maybe) when someone asked me a favor. Yes they are in a bad situation but that does not automatically obligate me to put myself out and help. Especially when same friend CONSTANTLY puts themselves in these situations. Is like the perils of Penelope Pitstop. The drama is old now. We are no longer entertained or amused. Being upfront with my expectations is all I can do. Poor planning on your part does not mean that the emergency encompasses me and mine. Especially when I have nothing to do with it. Some lessons are only learned when the safety has been removed (safety net or safety on the trigger).

Even the small bit of help I did extend wore me down, gave me a headache and inconvenienced my time management. I’ve decided that will no longer continue. All decisions are final. It’s one of the only habits I started as a teenager that I’ve held true to till now. I don’t change my mind when I’ve told someone no, stated my plans to witnesses and put my decision into words. Being wishy-washy has never seemed like a good thing especially when viewing the wild mess that people seem to get themselves into. I am not perfect by any means but I have left the major flubs in my past and am past most major destructions to my life and living situation. Some people seem to invite the drama like flies to spilt fruit juice and I have to put myself at a distance.

The weekend begins as it should doing fun stuff. With friends. And of course good music. I’ve danced with my friends and I’ve danced alone in the crowd but I had fun the entire time. I also arrived back home alive to tell the tale. Lady Gaga give-aways on Thursday Night with the crowd going wild (and me doing impromptu stage crowd control). On Friday night the drag-off contest at the F Word party at Club Rebel was fun. I was sorry that Britney Houston took second place in the contest but Spicky Hilton singing live really was cool to see.

I paid my phone bill a month early (since I already paid my bill 2 weeks ago) so that the phone donations (text message donations) can be forwarded from the phone company to the charities that need the funds. Every little bit helps I’m sure. When I heard that millions of dollars collected that way was not going where it was needed until people pay their phone bills I decided the least I could do was pay my bill as soon as possible. I hope everyone else remembers to pay their bills soon too. The best that we can do is do something. I guess. Stuff like this brings tears to my eyes for sure. Maybe I’m getting sensitive in my (not so) old age. Yes, we can be strong when we need to be but feel the ache in our hearts and respond correct if we have to. I just know that whatever pain I feel is a drop in the bottom of the river of sadness that happens when a persons whole world lies in ruins. Maybe some of the tears are for myself because they were just waiting to be shed. But the trigger event deserves so much more than the little bit of sadness I may go through. Yes I have seen the face of tragic and untimely badness right in my own life. But I can pick up my life and continue cause that’s what I do. That’s totally different than when you have nothing to pick up because it is all ruins and all around you is death and devastation. I can only hope that this is a turning point and we will hear that good things happen soon for so many who need it and need it now. Truthfully.

I have already made the decision to be more connected to my world. I will be paying attention and responding as necessary. I will blog, I will micro-blog, I will write (a lot), I will listen to my friends and be a friend. I will enjoy my music and I will dance. I won’t pass too much time just watching DVR programming and drivel. I will do what needs to be done to move myself and my goals forward. I have a lot of things to look forward to and I will make sure I am paying attention so I don’t miss anything. Attention Deficit at the wrong time could mean I miss something that really shouldn’t be missed. I can’t undo the past. But I can make a future.

Thanks for the good times at:

9-24-09 - The Summer comes to a close - The next season begins..

I was very happy this past weekend to party on Governor's Island and see the Freemasons first U.S. appearance. The final weekend of the summer was very festive for sure. I met a lot of friends both old and new and had a good time till the last song. Saw Christian, Brett, Alex, James and Joe MG. At the end I left and rode back with Jackie and Vervin. The ferry ride back to the mainland was anti-climactic as was walking back to City Hall so I could catch a taxi back to BK. But getting home OK was its own reward.

With the arrival of fall the difference between the day and the night is readily apparent. Having to carry a jacket with one reminds me of my trips to San Francisco, or to Amsterdam. I can deal with being prepared for the day as well as the night as I have always been a fan of being prepared for whatever. The days are getting shorter and time for the reign of the night is at hand. This also means the time of the year when I have also had more issues with getting up and going home without incident.

However this year my winter wear is far more advanced than any times past and my knowledge of what to expect and how to continue is more advanced than ever.

As I am still unsure of what to do with my days, and how to manage my time in-between weekends, I will continue to devise new means of occupying myself. Any sort of writing at all (even on my blog) goes towards shattering my writer's block. Or at least provide an outlet for the words I need to have expressed.

I still don't have my next purpose mapped out but at the very least I am getting a better sense of what it should be. I have been in a sort of limbo for far too long and I need to settle, and reorient and at least devise a plan of action. I've been flying by the seat of my pants for quite a while now and now that I actually have to worry about paying for my med coverage I now have a sort of incentive to do something that pays my bills and not just stuff that makes bills.

It was true that I needed a break and a time to re-orient after working for the company for so long but at the same time I can't let my bad experience color my outlook on all future types of gainful employment. Until I have reached a certain level of independence I still need to keep that sort of option open. I still have my friends but I have yet to have the desire to push any sort of dependence on any of them yet for job offers, placement, people to give resume's to or the like. It will be some time before we reach that level of need let alone the desire.

For now I will continue as we have done and let my dreams and interests guide my focus and do my best to keep my mind open until I am doing what I need to do, and I am in the place that I need to be. The day is coming and I am insomniac through the night awaiting that dawn.

07/07/09 - As we welcome the Day..

We lived through the parties and mayhem. Check. We are still ready for more fun times ahead. Check. Did we learn new things and influence people? Check.

I think I am doing well. I seem to have more of a will to complete the tasks I set out before me. I have done the music, the reading, the writing, and of course have been out and social with the friends. New friends all the time keep the energies flowing. We find out so much more about ourselves when we find out more about our friends. I think I have made some new ones that will allow me to watch the circle of friends grow and change.

I have seen that social networking allows people to constantly expand outward and then circle back and reconnect with both their pasts and their future.

I have been the DJ once again both via gift CDs and playing the playlist from the Ipod for the latest birthday party. I have added new elements to my newest novel(s) and expect to be more regular in adding to the storylines as the summer progresses.

Every night(day) we are supposed to go to bed proud of what we have accomplished with the day (night) and be happy that we are still adding to the story that is us. What we each have needs to be shared with the world. What the world has needs to be filtered down and shown to us in a way that makes sense for each of us individually.

What the world and the ones on it do for you may not be what the world does for me. And vice versa. We cannot force our own way of looking at things or doing things upon anyone else. We just have to let them know about our own part. And help them to look around and relate to their own worldview.

So many times things are forced, minds are crushed, facts are distorted and it only serves a limited worldview. Even if we are spoon fed we will grab onto the spoon and learn to do it ourselves. We have to do our best to not stifle the views of others but to help them see what is true and not just what is obvious but what the meaning of the happenings is. Many things happen for a reason. Other things happen for no reason at all. Our reaction or our apathy can be a turning point for someone else as well. Everyone can be teachers and be learning at the same time. There is no limit to any of our endeavors except the limit to how far we wish them to go.

We can stay in one place and enjoy the view, or we can keep on moving and enjoy the ride. Though we may be going in stops and starts, we will learn the whole time and do wonderful things, and see marvelous things.

It's still kind of a play-as-you-go plan. But it sounds fun to me.

Special thanks

4-21-09 Yeah, we don't get high like that so we talk later..

Yesterday I watched the G4/Tech TV specials and movies "Super High Me" as well as the 4/20 special of "Attack of the Show". This country has some interesting laws, and some people have interesting ways of enforcing them. I don't smoke anything at any time, but I don't judge those who do. I believe that people do require mood altering substances from time to time but the best are done under a doctors supervision..

Anyways the spring is here and we are keeping it moving. I am being helpful to one of my friends beyond the realm of just advice but is only temporary short time and then the disorder in my life will re-fold and be back to the mid-line.

Allergies have been jumping out at me from every open window and I have to remain vigilant with my claritin and sudafed to keep me mobile and ready to do what needs to be done.

This past weekend I did the multiple location hang out and had plenty of fun with Sean, Rick, Kevin, Durrell, Ben, Steve, Ty, and my friend DJs Dr Brooks and DJ Smokey. The music has been good. I finally visited Fitz and gave him the CDs to give to the fitness center lady Gina down in Battery Park City. Hopefully she will enjoy. I even gave a copy of the tech mix to the doorman who was very nice.

I have no definite plans in the upcoming weeks but a lot of stuff will be happening that I am sure I will be right in the midst of. We will take it one day at a time and stay ready for whatever..

1/06/09 - Awake and Waiting

This insomnia (waking up before dawn and laying there for 2 hours is insomnia for sureness) is annoying but I am sure If I plan my caffeine schedule, and or take some sleep meds sparingly I can be ready for bed at a reasonable hour more than once or twice a week.

I think it is just I have so much on my mind, both in my life and creatively that I have to get them all done before I can finally sleep and sleep well.

I have books to write, vacation plans to make, bills to pay, and my desktop PC that I use to make music and burn CDs finally gave up the ghost (boot sector with funky symbols). The Desktop PC and the bills will be handled in due time. But I really have to sit down and write the books and stories and any music in my head will be focused on when I get the new PC.
(Thank Goodness for the Mac laptop and the backup External). If I did not have the access I do to the information world and my online friends I would be highly upset. But since I have the high-speed cable, the laptop in the living room and the big TV to watch at the same time, all is still well.

Last weekend was a lot. New Years meant that the weekend started early. Wednesday Night watching Amber and Zelma Davis perform, well as a trip to Roseland Ballroom with the New Years detritus of Times Square still blowing as I ran to the club. I hung out with Marta and saw Joon before I had to head home before I fell asleep on my feet. I even went out Thursday Night with Dwayne and danced until 4am and took a taxi home. I had a lot of fun two days in a row but decided to take Friday off to rest and recover. (Sorry Mo.) Saturday was spent shopping in NJ where the taxes were low and the selection was nice. After a late afternoon nap I was ready to jump into my Saturday Night with both feet. With Russ and The Jimmy both off to G Lounge I headed over to GymBar myself and hung out for a bit with Ty, Ben and DJ Colin. I headed over to Splash around 12:30 and hung out with Dwayne for a bit before dancing both upstairs and down with DJ Hex Hector upstairs and DJ Danny Echi downstairs. I got the phone call from Russ to leave and meet at 4pm to head back to Brooklyn so I retrieved my wrap and made my way back to Bklyn after a stop for pizza. I was overtired and not at my best on the way home but eventually I was able to fall asleep and awake to a lazy Sunday.

The days are starting to get longer again, but there is still plenty of Winter to deal with before the warm comes again. I do need to be a little more regimented in my scheduling and planning and remember to take my vitamins. All that I do requires me to be on point for many days and many nights and I need all of the help that I can get. This insomnia is getting in the way. I need to get past it and get all of the spots worked out. At least my new friend the Homedics Shiatsu Pillow is keeping me from getting too tense.

My problem may be is I am still waiting for everything to be done and finished, All the writing, all the waiting, All the things I have yet to do. I have frittered away the time watching movies on cable but this is the season when that is not as much fun as well so thankfully it is forcing me to do the other things that need to be done.

I know I will do it all eventually, but I guess it will have to be soon. One never knows what will happen next.

Announcement of Future Intent

People usually know how to have fun. We hang out, we listen to music, we have drinks, we talk, we laugh, we usually have a good time.

Some people know not what they do. Sometimes they drink too much, sometimes they have a bad reaction, sometimes they say the wrong thing. I cannot expect everyone to take things to the level of exactitude and professionalism that I bring to my good time. I cannot expect people not to look like fools when they are overwhelmed by whatever poison of choice they have chosen to let take them over.

I cannot let myself be dragged down by these situations. I refuse to let my good times be diluted and broken down until they are mere shadows of the good times I expect.

I have stated to myself that I will not embarrass or forget to think of other peoples feelings when I state myself for the record where people can be recognized online. I will however refuse to put myself in the same position to have a bad situation be put on repeat. People should know that I try not to make the same mistake twice. I study where the situation skewed from the ideal and I then take steps to make sure the skew is forever not repeated.

Sometimes you say never again and you mean it, sometimes despite all of your preparation it happens to yourself and those around you. However if it happens to those who are around you then you can stop it from happening again by removing those catalysts of a downward facing evening. I have tried to be nice and accepting of faults and weaknesses but maybe it is just my own weakness of being too nice. Some people are not deserving of that constant outpouring of kindness. They just take the kindness in and have it flow back empty. I will not feed into the negative but I will take the positive and direct it where it will have the most good, towards me and mine and the ones who need it and appreciate from whence it came.

I will be nice
but not that nice.

And I will not let other people ruin my evening, overnight and early morning. If they can't handle the truth I will not tell them in so many words. But they will be removed from the vicinity of my good time and I will forge on ahead with a head held high and much hope for my future. A future with less drama, less drunkenness and definitely less outright stupidity.

I deserve better, I will have it.
There is no reason why not.
And I have it within my power to make it so.

10/31 - Ready to Go. - Check

I have been living it up lately. All of the crew has been in attendance. I have been doing my part to keep the party moving and I think I have found all of the new bartender's I need to go to since some of my old bartenders have retired (sad face). The fall has rolled in like gang busters and I really needed to pull out the winter wear to walk the streets this past week.
I need cover as a run from club to club you know.
Anyway, I have been free with the advice, talking to some very smart people from DJs to friends I have just met and have been growing as a person in getting advice, giving advice and following my own advice (for once).

Preparation is the mother of invention. If I just put myself in the right place with the right preparation then good things will happen and I will go on like Celine Dion.

I have been doing the usual circuit of Gymbar, G Lounge and Splash, with side trips to Rebel and Mr Black thrown in. I feel bad that I can't visit Rebel more because I did have a good time with the music there, (better than I thought I would) and I have a bartender I know in the space. The bad news is they search you down like you are a criminal. I would have to leave my wallet chain and my Visine elsewhere to get inside. The full body pat down gets tired when you know you are innocent.

I have recently started going out on multiple nights over the weekend. As long as my wallet can handle it and I have friends to join me I will try my best. Has been a good time had by all so far.

No checks have bounced and all credit lines are open. The next party will be arriving in... 11 hours. Countdown begins...

9/7 - Stormy Weekend - Still Fun

I started early on Thursday.
Hanging at gym bar and then splashbar.

I was miffed that I had to pay and that the price of drinks went up
but I will live.

I have to conserve myself and not do an more Thursdays anytime soon.

Friday was fun, with Russ, Durrell, and Russ as we hit up Gymbar, then G Lounge then Splash, then Mr Black (4 bars - clubs) I was even able to maintain a good party atmosphere about myself having great fun on Friday night despite the rain. Thank goodness friends are there to see you to the end of the night when you get distracted and start to drift.

Saturday despite the impending storm I headed out for a ride in the Murano, bought some juice, soda and eggs and chilled out waiting for night to fall. I rested and then prepared myself to jump out into the main event for a Saturday night. Haircut, cleaned and outfitted I was ready to claim the night. All my friends were texted and in transit. I rolled into the city with the Jimmy and Russ and started the night at G Lounge and waited for Durrell to arrive before He and I headed over to Splash.

Once inside said hi to the peeps in attendance and danced to the beats of DJ Alexander on the main floor after meeting up with Dwayne. We saw Dougie entertaining a few castmates from the Real World with their lighting tech and sound technicians in tow. Said hello to DJ Echi downstairs and danced to the pop party and R&B beats before heading back upstairs and seeing Garrett for more drinks and further dancing. We ended up staying till the very end unintentionally since I was planning to leave before 4:50am closing but DJ Alexander kept the party hopping with the beats to the very end.

Walked over to Mickey D's for a big breakfast and had some drama as they mixed up my order with some other customers and I had to wait for them to make me a new breakfast. They also ran out of Orange Juice but I made do with sprite. I said good night to Durrell at the train station and got on the train and headed home. I actually took the Q train and switched to a D train at Atlantic-Pacific. Watched Abridged Yu Gi Oh on my iTouch and laughed some and then listened to some calming R&B for the last few minutes of my trip home before getting inside the home, eating my breakfast, brushing my teeth and going to bed.

Sunday was a nice slow day, just watching news feeds and such before going to pick up lunch at Wendy's. That was a good Double. The rest of the night was calm, watching 60 minutes and such before 9pm rolled around and I watched True Blood on HBO. Loved it. The rest of the night is just chilling before bed as usual.

I wove together a complex tapestry of a nightlife ruled weekend and thoroughly enjoyed myself. I wouldn't change much and the Saturday night I think was flawless. Anyway, I will definitely look forward to the rest of the season, despite the crazy weather, it did not stop me and my friends from having a good time.

Unless there are tornados reported in central park, or lightning striking cars and blowing them up on my block, I will go out on Saturday Night.

Come with it then.

6/27/08-6/29/08 - Weekend of Pride - In Quotes..

And now something different.

I tried to be there when I needed to be and have fun at the same time.

In the end I outlasted all but the final party and that was only because it was just too much and the music was horrible (Why JP why?, I do not want to hear Pride-A Deeper Love at 6am in the morning ever again.)

Quotes:

- "You know I am hating you right now.. But if you bought that drink for me I'll take it."

- Even the gayest party, can be hijacked by One Drunk Girl..

- I love it when drunk bitches are escorted out of the place by on point Security..

- "I gotta, I gotta Pocketful of Sunshine," I got stuff and I know that It's all mine.."

5/23-5/26 - Too much.. Is Never Enough.

I was planning on taking it easy, Just doing the Saturday Alegria thing. But instead ended up having 3 days of drinking and overthinking.

Friday - At work, Wendy's on the way home, then Gym bar, then Ty's, then Hangar, then Splash till 3:15am.

Saturday Night - arrival at Alegria at Webster Hall,
Proceeded to have security drama as they make me check the chain from my wallet, and the lights (the small ones and not the big ones ?). I saw all of my friends, both upstairs and down and upstairs again (too many stairs) and though the music was good and the stage entertainment was good, the place was too hot and some people were rude in their highness (pushy and hitting bystanders for no reason other than they thought they finally got the beat and could dance). I stayed until 6:50 just 1 hr longer than Russ and the Jimmy. The attitude at the door ruined my mood. I had fun but it was not worth it. (and $90 for Pride weekend is definitely not on my list of worth it).

Sunday - The Eagle for a hangout on the roofdeck, and the crowd was great. The place was nice and crowded from the moment we made our way up to the third level and the bartenders were nice and the crowd was fun and funny. I stayed there for a few hours then when I got my friend texts I did a quick run downtown to meet friends at Hiro (which was ridiculously crowded) and then meet at G lounge (ridiculously crowded). So after a bathroom break at Gym bar a hello to the DJ and then saying goodnight to Maurice who decided to head back home, Dwayne and I headed over to Splash. DJ Billy Carroll had the room pumping to a healthy crowd that had as many people upstairs as a good Saturday Night. I danced some on the dancefloor and even at the front bar with a tall blond girl who was with her friends and then at 3:10am following the sounds of Janet Jackson and "Feedback" I did the two hands lit dance on the box and finally I felt I had the high point my weekend needed. Anyway left the club at 3:45 and finally headed home.

Monday - Delivery breakfast (again) and then headed into the city to meet friends in the park. Towel in the grass at Stuy town, plenty of sunblock and hung out with Gary, Nathan and the girls. Sunblock was applied and we left at 4pm to go get something for dinner. A pickup order at Dallas BBQ and then it was home to watch "Apocalypto" on Blu-Ray. After that it was time to nap and then Baskin and Robbins ice cream. Still dehydrated, but getting better. ; )

Quotes:

"I am so tired of playing 'Fat Girlfriend*', I need some me time, where its about me and not about being fat girlfriend."

"I like having my own bartender, I remember to treat them nice and they treat me nice. It's like the 'Circle of Vodka'.

*Fat Girlfriend - The frumpy friend that hangs out with the girl that gets all of the attention.

3/14 - 3/16 - Spring is here. Still Cold. But still having Hot Fun..

Friday was good, I was silly but it was good. Mistaking the day of an invite I was in Chelsea on Friday when I was actually invited to a dinner party on Saturday. No matter. I simply hung out at Gym bar with my friends and had a few drinks and chatted with DJ Smokey before heading over to Splash around midnight to hang with some more friends. The music was by DJ Max Rodriguez and the place was pretty festive. A nice upbeat party and my friends all seemed to have a good time. Hung out with Russ and the Jimmy, as well as friends Tres, Rob, Rick, Shawn, Dean, Mauricio, Lionel and Garrett. I was out drinking from 8:30 to 2:30am, heading for home around 3:15am. The taxi back to bk was quick and I was able to sleep well. Another party handled and under control. This is why we try and drink on a schedule. Otherwise we would be under the bar or at least being carried out of one. So far I know that my friends don't always know when I seem to have gone beyond and am no longer in full memory of events. Irregardless, that seems to happen rarely and is something I actively work to prevent. Nobody wants to wake up naked and alone (on the street). Or wake up with an ugly person. Or wake up with someone who has attached you to the radiator and is calling their buds to help with your disposal.

Anyway.

Saturday was spent burning CDs. Watching movies and getting ready for my dinner invitation. All cleaned up and ready to head into the city I was able to catch a train transfer to the D and then when it went over the E line, I did not have to transfer but just rode from Bklyn to Chelsea on the same train. One block south and one block east I was eating at Regional Thai with my friends as we regaled each other with tales of parties past and plans for the parties coming up. Ms Beth arrived and we sang our happy B'Day and had our cake (healthy and made of fresh fruit) and made plans to head out. We all went to different spaces. I gifted my newest CDs The Move Mint and Technically Mint and was dropped off on 17th street so I could head into Splash.

I said hi to Derek and once inside I made my way around the bar but did not see anyone I knew for a while. I did say hi to Larry and Garrett and later on Stephanie and Amore as we danced from new hits "Don't Stop the Music", "Everybody Up", and "Beatzz" to classic hits such as "That Sound" and "Love Revolution". Eventually after 4am it was time to move on up or down as it were and head out to another bar making way over to Club Shelter on Varick Street. Cool crowd, the music was ok but I kind of forgot what time it was until I had to head home in the early am. I took the train back to BK and got home safely. Nice job. Good times.

If only I could do as much on Sunday as I do on Saturday night. No matter. Energy cannot be destroyed or created it just goes somewhere else. I will see what comes up with my party energies. A great time will be had by all.

10/26 - H'Ween Weekend - Fun and In between scenes..

Friday I could not leave work fast enough but still had to do some shopping (those angel wings were not going to buy themselves, ha!). So I headed over to the ghetto mall off of Flatbush and I found out that the GHETTO MALL IS CLOSED. Well Fulton Street Mall is still there but the Albee Square Mall and especially the Toys R Us is now gone. I walked around the whole space and saw all the doors gated and the security guard in the building watching television. I was totally lost for a second and then I walked down the street and found this store called, I think "Cookies" where they had kids halloween costumes. Now I was not planning on buying full size I hat that stupid person wings that got in the way I was going to trim them for my own use anyway so I actually found a $5 dollar pair of wings that I knew would work out once I sized them the way I wanted (cut in half and pointed down and using the arm straps connected as a necklace. But I'm getting ahead of myself. On Friday I got back home threw the bags into the room and ate my italian dinner and got myself ready to go out. We headed over to Steven's place downtown and met up with the Jimmy and Steven and helped Steven with his PC while the guys played backgammon. Finally they were torn away from the game and the four of us piled into Steven's Explorer and headed uptown. We did a driveby of the Ritz but the crowd wasn't what we ALL wanted so we headed towards Krash at Stereo but could not find parking. Right after a truly emotional blow-up in the car regarding parking and back seat driving we all stepped out of the vehicle and went to our neutral corners. The entry to the club was uneventful (even though I did manage to lose one of my lights) but once inside the party looked fun yet sadly empty of the raucous crowd I was used to on Saturdays. People were having fun but the place only had like 130 people dancing and so despite the crowd having fun the place closed at 2am. Krash is closed once again. But at least I got to see it once before it was gone. I said goodnight to Jenny and the rest of the crowd and we headed out to the car and over to Splash. Once inside I hung up my coat and danced downstairs and up. DJ for the eve was Brett Heinrichsen and we stayed and enjoyed ourselves until it was time to leave (around 3:15am) We were able to get a taxi pretty easily and headed back to BK.

Pretty normal for a Friday but it was just the first day of the weekend.

07/13-07/15 - No more Drama, Then the Bastille

Friday was a long day. But I picked up some Popeye's on the way home and got home to watch some DVR programming and then get ready head outside. Of course after cleaning up, getting dressed and rushing out, it wasn't until I was in the city and looking up the street at the club I realized I was not carrying my photo ID. (Damn you Alegria wallet thief) and proceeded to return all the way to Brooklyn to pick up the ID say a quick hello to Russ and then head back out (I had built it up too much so I was not going to stay home) I traveled all the way back to into the city, made it into Splash and said hello to Rick and Shawn then went to the bar and got a drink. The beats with Billy Carroll were good and the place was pretty busy but once it started to clear out around 3am it was time to party hop. Tres, Robert and I walked over to the car and headed downtown to
Mr Black picked up a Diet Coca Cola at the bodega and then headed downstairs to dance in the packed late hours spot. Of course the drama of earlier continues when I lose my ID in the crowd and can't even muster the energy to do a full club search. At this point I get separated from my friends and let the evening come to a close making my way back home to Bklyn.

Of course when I wake up the full importance of all I went through does not sink in until early afternoon when I am checking on everything I emptied out of my pockets (no ID). (Damn you strong drinks and those sneaky frozen margaritas). But despite repeated calls to the club no one picks up the phone and I just continue on with my day. An egg sandwich and a shower later and its time to walk up the street, meet up with Rob and Tres and we head over to Prospect Park to watch the Softball Teams compete. Softball fields not too far across the park and we said hello to all the boys, and the bear fans and got to see the Buddies win their second game. After the game everyone went their separate ways and we headed back over to sit on the stoop, eat chips and cherries and take in the afternoon a bit before I made my way back down the street and rested up preparing for the coming of night. Freshly haircut, cleaned up and wearing my new Calvin Klein 365s I prepared to repair my weekend. First I went to the car service and got a ride over to Mr Black. Thankfully they had my ID so I could once again be identified but now I had to head across town to get an uptown car to get to Stereo. I made my way down Bleeker (full of people) and then over to Hudson street so I could finally catch my uptown car.

A seven dollar cab ride later and I was over to the party and making my way to the emptying of the pockets at the door. The place was pretty light on people when I first walked downstairs but I did say hello to Eddie and TJ and we found the bartender for the evening and proceeded to hang out. Pretty soon everyone else was there and I went into the crowd to dance and take a few pictures with my friends. The new laser got plenty of use but I did not light up my hands (just danced and danced). DJ Paulo kept the party rocking and I stayed until 5:15am before saying goodnight to my friends and heading outside and over to 9th Ave where I flagged down a cab very quickly and headed back home to Bklyn.

My scrambled eggs and bacon breakfast (good for the liver the day after having a few drinks) and then I headed over to Macy's with Russ to check out what the Downtown Brooklyn had to offer. Russ bought a shirt and a new rug for the bathroom and then after checking out the new lofts in the phone building next to MetroTech, headed back to the Slope. After a short rest and cleanup it was out and over to Carroll Gardens and the Bastille Day celebrations on Smith Street. We made it through the crowds and started out at Apt 138, where it was still too early to enjoy the heat outside and so we sat down inside and waited for a table. Seema soon joined us and we had a great lunch before having another drink and then heading out into the crowd. After stopping over at Trout and having a set of drinks we checked out the people on the street. Pretty soon we made our way up the block to the more child friendly street with the jump around inflatable and picked up some tickets for sangria and a Heineken. After listening to the strangely latin flavored outdoor band (I thought Bastille Day was French) we headed back over to Smith Street said goodnight to Seema then headed back to the slope picking up a set of Hostess cupcakes on the way.

So it started out kinda stressful but now I am well on the road to full recovery from my weekend. All will be well and it can only get better.

Mar 24-25 - Weekend of Black

I try and try to prepare. I workout, I stay hydrated I plan wardrobe and arrival times weeks in advance. No matter what the unexplained can still occur. An allergic reaction to vitamin supplements can cause you much drama. The morning of is kind of late to have to deal with drama but all of the preparation sets you up for better response to the strangeness that occurs. I spent the day taking my medicine and traveling to the drug store to buy cream and I was able to recover enough to be mostly presentable by nightfall. I had decided my outfit already so besides making sure the time to rest up was factored in before dinnertime and then the final clean up was done. I was all dressed up from swat boots, black cargo shorts, the new backpack suspenders and the dog tags. Russ had his tags, the new black pants and his comfortable shoes. We called for the car service and the car came quickly, the driver was one I had about a week before whom I had discussed parking issues and Uncivil Servants where people complain about bad parking by city employees.

We arrived at 52nd street and were surprised there was no line. It was nice but still surprising. I said hello to the security I did know and was inside nice and easy. Downstairs the coatcheck was clicking right along as the promoters made sure to hire people who knew what they were doing this year and were on top of things. The line moved so fast I was all done with the coatcheck in just over 5 minutes and I said hello to the staff that I knew from previous events and then I was back upstairs to find Russ and Steve as well. I had already seen Pat and the other Steve and Darren before I had even come upstairs and then delved into the party with both feet. We hit the main floor got drinks from Jose and then hung out near the seats talking with Steve and seeing our friends as they passed by. Pretty soon it was onto the dancefloor to groove to the sounds of DJ Michael Marx who was hitting the perfect tunes at the right time to keep the crowd into it. Of course the freaky shows were a little distracting as the dancers were cool until the fisting started and I had to look away. Even Russ thought it was a bit much and we decided it was time to get a drink. After last call and the DJ turned over to DJ Tony Moran the music was still good but lost that hard edge. I was surprised to Christina Aguilera at the Black Party (Hurt) but even the song was good it was strange to hear nevertheless. I was not too many Red Bulls into the after cut off when Russ told me that he was not going to be staying too late so I made my way towards the stage, found my moment and when the security was distracted by some sketchy person I made my way onto the stage and danced with both green lights right next to the flagger that was about to fall over and couldn't keep the flags straight. After the song was over I climbed back down the walkway runway and asked Russ did he see me up there (He did) and then we journeyed downstairs to the coat check. It was as drama free as could be expected and though I did not get to say goodbye to anyone else I knew I would see them again soon. It was time to head home after the first night. I did not even put the pants back on over my shorts but just went outside with the coat and shorts. The taxi stopped for Russ as usual and then we headed downtown and back to BK.

Breakfast, resting, TV Watching and not too much until nightfall. Dinner was over around 9pm and I had programmed the DVR to start taping the first episodes of Planet Earth on Discovery HD. I just maxed and relaxed until 11:30pm when it was time to shower up and get dressed. I was ready to leave the house around 12:45 and I got the car service to pick me up right away. The driver was the same one I had the night before but this night he was quiet and I got to listen to my iPod Music on the way into the city. He dropped me off, I picked up my bottle of Fiji water at the deli and then walked back to entrance on 27th street. I finished the bottle of water just before I headed inside and made it through the pat down, the vip check, the ticket check and the coat check. After a quick onceover of the dance floor and saying hello to Tres, Bob and Rob I headed upstairs to the VIP. Alegria Extreme was in full effect and the crowd was just getting to its max but as I first arrived the VIP was not too packed (it did not get too bad until around 5am) Upstairs I ran into DJ Michael Marx where via his translator friend I told him I enjoyed his set at the Black Party and hope to see him in his home space in Paris. I also saw promoter Lisa and Jennifer who I had not expected to see so soon after the Roxy closing party. Anyway I journeyed back down to the main floor and hung out with Pat, Steven, Eric and the boys for a while and even said hello to Jun who I knew from the speakers at Roxy. Back up in the VIP I said hello to DJ Brett Heinrichsen as well as Big Kim before heading back downstairs to surf the crowd while watching the various shows on the stage and the listening to the great music washing over the crowd from DJ Abel. I even heard "Flesh" which was on my Black Ice 4 CD. I watched the crowd thin out some but did make sure to dance on the speaker for Ralphi Rosario remix of "World Hold On" before I climbed down into the crowd and said goodbye to my friends before heading out of the club at 8:50am. This time I remembered my sunglasses and I walked down to 23rd street before I gave up on getting a taxi home and just walked to the F train to take the subway home. I had a book to read after all. Of course the book was too much to read after partying all night to I waited for the train to pull into the station at 9th street so I could switch to the R train and continue my way home. I got home before 10am and even though I did not expect it I did get to say Good Morning to Russ before I went to bed myself.

Another party weekend completed and plenty of partying was to be had and was completed by all. Thank goodness I have two days off from work (Mon-Tues) to rest up before completing the week. There is always another one to look forward to. Until next time...
