07/13-07/15 - No more Drama, Then the Bastille

Friday was a long day. But I picked up some Popeye's on the way home and got home to watch some DVR programming and then get ready head outside. Of course after cleaning up, getting dressed and rushing out, it wasn't until I was in the city and looking up the street at the club I realized I was not carrying my photo ID. (Damn you Alegria wallet thief) and proceeded to return all the way to Brooklyn to pick up the ID say a quick hello to Russ and then head back out (I had built it up too much so I was not going to stay home) I traveled all the way back to into the city, made it into Splash and said hello to Rick and Shawn then went to the bar and got a drink. The beats with Billy Carroll were good and the place was pretty busy but once it started to clear out around 3am it was time to party hop. Tres, Robert and I walked over to the car and headed downtown to
Mr Black picked up a Diet Coca Cola at the bodega and then headed downstairs to dance in the packed late hours spot. Of course the drama of earlier continues when I lose my ID in the crowd and can't even muster the energy to do a full club search. At this point I get separated from my friends and let the evening come to a close making my way back home to Bklyn.

Of course when I wake up the full importance of all I went through does not sink in until early afternoon when I am checking on everything I emptied out of my pockets (no ID). (Damn you strong drinks and those sneaky frozen margaritas). But despite repeated calls to the club no one picks up the phone and I just continue on with my day. An egg sandwich and a shower later and its time to walk up the street, meet up with Rob and Tres and we head over to Prospect Park to watch the Softball Teams compete. Softball fields not too far across the park and we said hello to all the boys, and the bear fans and got to see the Buddies win their second game. After the game everyone went their separate ways and we headed back over to sit on the stoop, eat chips and cherries and take in the afternoon a bit before I made my way back down the street and rested up preparing for the coming of night. Freshly haircut, cleaned up and wearing my new Calvin Klein 365s I prepared to repair my weekend. First I went to the car service and got a ride over to Mr Black. Thankfully they had my ID so I could once again be identified but now I had to head across town to get an uptown car to get to Stereo. I made my way down Bleeker (full of people) and then over to Hudson street so I could finally catch my uptown car.

A seven dollar cab ride later and I was over to the party and making my way to the emptying of the pockets at the door. The place was pretty light on people when I first walked downstairs but I did say hello to Eddie and TJ and we found the bartender for the evening and proceeded to hang out. Pretty soon everyone else was there and I went into the crowd to dance and take a few pictures with my friends. The new laser got plenty of use but I did not light up my hands (just danced and danced). DJ Paulo kept the party rocking and I stayed until 5:15am before saying goodnight to my friends and heading outside and over to 9th Ave where I flagged down a cab very quickly and headed back home to Bklyn.

My scrambled eggs and bacon breakfast (good for the liver the day after having a few drinks) and then I headed over to Macy's with Russ to check out what the Downtown Brooklyn had to offer. Russ bought a shirt and a new rug for the bathroom and then after checking out the new lofts in the phone building next to MetroTech, headed back to the Slope. After a short rest and cleanup it was out and over to Carroll Gardens and the Bastille Day celebrations on Smith Street. We made it through the crowds and started out at Apt 138, where it was still too early to enjoy the heat outside and so we sat down inside and waited for a table. Seema soon joined us and we had a great lunch before having another drink and then heading out into the crowd. After stopping over at Trout and having a set of drinks we checked out the people on the street. Pretty soon we made our way up the block to the more child friendly street with the jump around inflatable and picked up some tickets for sangria and a Heineken. After listening to the strangely latin flavored outdoor band (I thought Bastille Day was French) we headed back over to Smith Street said goodnight to Seema then headed back to the slope picking up a set of Hostess cupcakes on the way.

So it started out kinda stressful but now I am well on the road to full recovery from my weekend. All will be well and it can only get better.
