The ride into the city was the usual train ride as I think the F train moves faster than the R. But anyway I arrived on 14th street station, walked up 8th ave and hung out at
Gym for a bit. Between talking to the guy in coatcheck, bartender Ben, and watching the end of the Jets/Patriots game (Jets win in OT) it was a pretty good mood in the space. I continued my caffeine and vodka fueled speeches with my friends over at the DJ before finally heading out when the place emptied by 1am. I headed over to G Lounge but the crowd by that time was emptying out as well. Said hello to Steven, the Jimmy and Bobby Haha, before Bobby walked me over towards Splash while discussing comedy, Jackie M, parents and kids. Heady stuff.
Anyway he said goodnight to go catch his cab ride home just as Rob, Tres, Eden and Ira come by on their way up the sidewalk saying they were leaving Splash and heading to Mr. Black. I decided to go over to the Mr Black 3.0 and see how the new space was doing. The party was already also in decline at this hour but we gamely stayed until 3:30 and danced with Durell and the rest of the patrons still moving between the two party spaces and coatcheck. Finally we decided it was late and we should leave before we were the last men standing. We piled back into the car and headed cross town.
Somehow word had gotten out about some underground party that was happening and still going on the east side and we all decided to head on over and see what was what. However once we got to the vicinity and found out the door was $20 we had second thoughts. An extended friend said they could get us in for just $15 so we bit the bullet and made our way in past the door. Um, what is this? Is this like some closed down bar that needs renovations? How come there is like no lighting in this space? How come the music keeps shutting off? (CDs). I felt like saying I am a true party person and this is NOT a party, Get me Out of Here!. But after counting the 32 people in attendance I decided to tough it out, and chilled next to my friends and waited for everone to grow tired of the place, and waited and waited. Until finally, an hour and twenty minutes later the crew decided it was time (almost 6am) and we headed out and back to BK. Two people had to go to work the next day but decided they could do without sleep and make it to the afternoon on fumes. Whatever. I got dropped off, waved goodnight and stumbled to my place and my bed. A learning experience to be sure.
Friday I could not wait for the night time to come. I had already worked out during the week. I had mentally cleansed myself from any residual hard feelings from the night before and was looking forward to just getting out and seeing what the people were up to. Once again the trains got me to the city all good and I walked in and said hello to Joseph and Jamek who was celebrating his B'Day. Also I met their friend Damon and we did Surfer on Acid shots (I still love that drink) and I then continued to drink normal stuff like Stella Artois and then my famous Stoli Vodka and red bull. Between the polish drinking songs, the ultimate fights on the tv and the great Friday crowd I had a good time. Stopped for a bit and talked to DJ Smoky before heading over to G Lounge with Dwayne. We stopped in, had our drinks and then I decided that I did not feel like making the trek up to Mr Black tonite so I was just going over to Splash (despite Susan M) and just seeing what was what. After checking my coat I was able to hang out with Rick and Shawn and just have a great time before 4am rolled around and it was time to make my leave.
Of course Mickey Ds was temporarily closed for a shift change and I could not go home fully happy but I decided to tough it out, not go on a hunt for a big b'fast and made my way home back to BK.
Saturday was spent making sure I was hydrated and rested. A quick trip over to KFC for a chicken breast lunch was what I needed to make it through to the end of the afternoon.
By the time the night rolled around, and despite tornado warnings for NYC I was ready to go out and show and prove. Russ, the jimmy, and I headed into the city and parked near glounge so we could start the bar hop. Of course everyone who had stayed home in fear of playing Dorothy in Oz all came out at the same time and the line in front of G was ridiculous. Instead of wasting 30 minutes waiting we just headed right over to Splash and the fact that I was getting us all in with face value. I got my drink at the bar and I awaiting the arrival of the rest of the friends. The place filled up fairly quickly and by 12:20 pm the place was packed and the air was getting hot with all of the peoples.
Inaya Day did not come on stage until almost 2am but the crowd loved her and stayed even after her performance. I also learned that one of my friends I had just met the night before at Splash while hanging with Rick and Shawn had left under mysterious circumstances and after leaving with no memory he woke up at 114th street and had been robbed of his cellphone, money and everything he could withdraw from the ATM. I really felt his story as a few years ago someone had tried to abscond with my sister from the Roxy after adulterating her drink as well. I told him that I felt so bad for his misfortune but was so happy that he had made it through the experience with his life and health after the badness that had happened to the girls of NYC over the past few years. The lessons we all must learn.
But tho Maurice finally headed over to Pacha at 4am when his ride arrived I stayed at Splash with the rest of the crew and we danced until 5am. In the meantime I spotted this tall gurl in heels using a Dora Explora lunchbox as a purse and knew I had seen everything on this night. I left in a good mood and made my way over to Mickey Ds where my big bkfast was waiting and then made my way home to BK. Nothing like a nice bite of bkfast before bed. I do love my weekend so.
Sunday was a nice restful day. A trip in the mid-afternoon to Wendys meant I was on the line when someone stole a blind lady's food. The servers had given her chicken nuggets and sandwiches to someone else and she was just there with her granddaughter. Before the drama could get any more involved I made my exit with my Double cheesebu
Despite all of the highs and lows the weekend did show me I know I am better for it. I had a lot of fun using both Plurk and Twitter and the night times were full of much sharing of ideas and stories between friends. The more I know about my friends the more I know about myself. It was one for me and mine to have enjoyed
