4/13 - It's all in How you Look At It..

I thought I was going to hang out with my friends..
I arrived at the club at 12:15 alone.

There was street level drama at my arrival; some drunken harridan was seething in the street as she was denied entry. I ignored her and made my way inside.

I actually was charged to enter the club that I have not had to pay for entry to since Britney Spears made an appearance. I was in a sour mood considering my course for the evening. Thinking I may turn hedgehog and defend my personality from any and all interlopers I figured I would at least enjoy the music. DJ Manny Lehman was good to start with. With predictable hits from last year to begin with just after midnight with segue right into new hits of this Spring (Janet Jackson, Madonna). Steph was the first to say hello but she was also the first to leave as she was feeling under the weather and left before 1am. I did get to hang with Rick and Shawn for a bit but did not want to be just hanger-on to their party night. However, we all banded together to defend our drinks from the newest iteration of "the guy that steals your drink when you are not looking". Alcoholic is what I called him. When your need to drink surpasses your capacity to pay for your own drinks then you have a rather severe problem.

Some of my friends were out of town, some of my friends were taking the evening off, but as I walked outside to get some fresh air and a Gatorade (they don't sell them at Splash anymore) and who was I to spot on the end of the long line up the block but Ricky. I plucked him from the line and we went to pizzeria to get my drink and then headed back to the club. Back on the right side of the block we said hello to NickG as well as Ben who was just arriving with his two friends as well. I would not let any of them wait on that straggling line so we headed back to the entrance and the 5 of us all got inside the doors only to wait on the drama of the ID girl kicking someone out. After waiting our turn it was on and inside the club to reconvene on the dance floor. The club was full, both upstairs and down, and much high b!tch drama was in attendance.

From drunk people to high people to people who needed that party as much as I needed to dance, I guess it really does take all kinds of people to make a night.

I even had someone cut in front of me after waiting on line for the urinal. However once I was inside the cubicle right next to that person (glass wall between the stalls) I could see he had cut me off not to pee like I needed to but rather to take his next hit from some contraption he fumbled out of his pocket. Again, people have all kinds of problems, but thankfully they are not mine. I pulled Ricky from the crowded bathroom and we danced next to the downstairs bar to Flo-Rida and "Low" for a verse before heading back upstairs.

Before the night was over I did dance on the box at the front. Of course it was to Suzanne Palmer and the Offer Nissim remix of "Fascinated". Nick G even teased me by putting a dollar in my pants while I danced. The old adage of "Take Your problems to the dancefloor" held true and I was able to enjoy my last drink of the eve at 3:55am before finally calling it a night at 4:30am. I walked Ricky over to 8th avenue so he could head uptown on the blue line and I caught a taxi heading downtown.

The way home was simple and as quick as I expected.

Honestly I view the night to be far more successful than it was even meant to be.
I have been having issues lately with thinking negative thoughts and letting negative issues in my life get to me personally. I know I have tried to live according to my own rules "Be a force for good" and "Be the Best at what I can do". But I was finding myself going further and further down a tunnel of deep thought that did not seem to have an obvious end.

Anyway, I woke up with a fresh sense of integration, personally in my own life, to reflect that I needed to really practice what I preach. So I can say that I am happier today than I was yesterday. And am looking forward to the Spring now with a renewed sense that I am doing what I want to do, for the right reasons, and I will definitely have fun doing it.

Let's see what the new day brings.

4/12/08 - A Saturday Spent..

I am actually posting about.. Today.
Yes, not a recap, not a funny thing I saw on the net
but what I did today.

I really do other things besides hang out on the weekends
but it is the weekend today,
and the weekdays all seem the same.

Anyway I did not go out last night (what.. Really?) and actually woke up at the pit of the morning and went to work to get in by 8am (that's crazy talk, I know).

Anyway I worked until 3 this afternoon and then got caught in the crazy commute that is trying to escape from NJ on the weekend. I will never move to NJ because the mass transit on the weekend is hellified. When I finally made it back to the city I had to do retail therapy and shop at Century 21 before I felt a little better (That PATH train was crowded and full of tourists).
My caffeine buzz from that last bottle of "5 Hour Energy" was wearing off and I had to fight to stay awake on the train.

But at least I am going out tonight.

See all of my friends at Splash.
Another good time to be had I am sure..
