So what to do for New Years? I'm not 100% sure but my heart is leaning towards a simple plan.

First rush home from work, (yes work, people still do that) and get some shut eye. An hour or two should suffice. Some quick finger food to energize and then we prepare to travel. Shower first, Fashion second, all necessary accessories detailed and pocketed.

Lip Balm, Eye Drops, Alcohol Soap and the all important Altoids Tin (for yourself and whatever friends you happen to meet). The mints are always a quick picker-upper (and they can get that strong beer taste to go away when it starts to haunt you). Anyway as I dash off into the night I will first make a stop at a house party (in Brooklyn, where most people live) and then head into the city.

I think I will check out Crobar for the first time. I heard that it is caverneous but we will see how effective that is for a good time. I have friends going to the Roxy and to Sound Factory also but we will see who fares the best.

I also want to see how long the liquor license at some of these places goes to. I like being able to drink until the party is well under way. Some cities you visit cut you off and throw you into the street at 2am. That is ludicrous. I guess in some places the college kids rule and then drive around and hurt each other but thankfully in NY the taxis are available 24/7 and public transportation goes everywhere. You don't have to drive unless you WANT to. Its a good thing (like Martha says) and I for one am not gonna complain anytime soon.

Also since I am raving about the hang out life I will say that I LOVE that people can't smoke inside of the bar (unless they feel they are special, in which case the security usually reminds them otherwise). You can go home smelling like you want to and not like you now have to enrich the dry cleaner because you smell like a forest fire escapee. I have gotten burned by drunken smokers before. Some people are oblivious that they are in the middle of a crowded room and cannot wave about as if the torch in their hand is harmless.

Eventually they will have smoking rooms or dungeons or wherever so they do not have to suffer on the sidewalks but I am enjoying the smokeless night so much I may just stop feeling sorry for the poor souls who have to catch a light outside the front door, roof or courtyard (depending on the venue).

Until we meet again...

Ok, so I like to have fun. No crime there. I like to hang out with the guys. Sounds cool. They all just happen to be gay guys. Don't get me wrong. I hang out with workmates too, they are all straight (I think) and have fun with other friends and family as well. But when I want to decompress with my weekend I hang with the guys at the fun to dance spots. Where else are you gonna hear good music but at the gay bar? Im not some liberated metrosexual either. Im a gay guy myself. I may not get into all kinds of gay scenes but give me some good music, some fun conversation every once in a while and a nice space and I am good to go.

Lately I have found myself in a SBNY and Roxy orbit each weekend (quote from a friend) but I try out new spaces every once in a while. I just like a guaranteed good thing when I hang, I like to DANCE. I circle the floor, dance on boxes, recognize DJs (have my favorites of course) and when I travel I like to hang out too. New York has always had one of the most fun times anywhere and you get to imbibe to your hearts content all the way up to 4am.

Come on out and see me at my favorite spots and say hi. I won't bite (too hard).
